Travel Tips & Best Times to Visit
Timing can make all the difference when planning an outdoor adventure. While spring and fall often offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and spectacular scenery, every destination has its own ideal season. For example, Glacier National Park’s iconic Going-to-the-Sun Road is typically open for only three to four months each year, while Banff offers unforgettable experiences in every season.
Many of the most sought-after lodges and unique accommodations book a year or more in advance, but through our trusted partners, we can often access preferred availability and exclusive experiences not readily available online. We also connect our clients with knowledgeable local guides who can help you explore beyond the crowds and experience each destination in a more meaningful way.

Baja, California
From January through April, this region becomes the world’s premier whale-watching destination, offering one of the highest concentrations and diversity of marine life on the planet. In the waters surrounding Baja California and the Gulf of California, travelers can encounter nine species of whales, including humpback, blue (the largest animal ever to live on Earth), minke, orca, fin, Bryde’s, sperm, sei, and the iconic gray whales of the eastern Pacific, which migrate thousands of miles to give birth and nurse their calves in these protected lagoons.
Often called “the world’s aquarium” by Jacques Cousteau, the Gulf of California is home to nearly one-third of the world’s marine mammal species, along with more than 900 species of fish and countless seabirds. Here, warm desert air meets nutrient-rich seas, creating a rare ecosystem where super-pods of dolphins, breaching whales, and leaping Mobula rays are common sights—sometimes all in a single day.
Snorkeling is equally unforgettable. Swim alongside playful sea lions and explore vibrant reefs teeming with over 220 species of fish, from colorful reef dwellers to schooling pelagics. Despite its extraordinary wildlife density, the region remains surprisingly remote and uncrowded, offering an intimate, immersive nature experience.
To truly experience Baja’s undersea world, travel with Lindblad Expeditions, pioneers in the region who have been exploring these waters for decades. Their expert naturalists, small expedition ships, and deep local knowledge provide rare access to wildlife encounters that simply can’t be replicated elsewhere—where the living sea meets pristine desert in one of the most awe-inspiring places on Earth.

Overnight Adventure at Fjallsarlon lagoon
Are you looking for an exclusive adventure, a solitary way to spend an unforgettable night in Iceland? Located on Fjallsarlon Glacier Lagoon, one of Iceland’s hidden gems, you will find the AuroraHut or so-called Igloo boat. For those who seek adventure, this nature retreat provides a unique secluded escape that is unmatched anywhere else in the world.
Each hut accommodates two persons in a double bed. This unique lodging is designed with comfort and style in mind. Glass walls and glass ceiling offer an exceptional view from inside the hut. The boats are fitted with a composting toilet, small kitchenette, electricity, and Wi-Fi. Please note that there are no shower facilities available on location. During summer you will appreciate the 24-hour daylight and throughout spring and autumn admire the pristine landscape as twilight falls. Please note that you will be taken to the Igloo boat by a zodiac boat (summer & shoulder season). The hut floats on the lagoon so you will not be able to go on land during your stay.
The Igloo boat is available from May – October and can be combined with either a self-drive tour or a private driver guided tour. There are only three boats so this is truly a unique experience. Contact us to book this incredible floating adventure and your whole Icelandic vacation.
